Leading in powerful times requires us to show up in our world differently than in the past. I help leaders and leadership teams – coaching, advising, or consulting – by supporting three interrelated capacities. Leaders must develop and exercise systems intelligence; they must learn to recognize and respond to adaptive challenges; and they must set an example that encourages mutual learning. When these three capacities are present, wise action is possible.

I engage with leaders in a three-step reinforcing cycle:

kayakfinalInquiry: asking skillful questions to illuminate strengths, possibilities, and emerging wisdom.

Guided learning: focused just-in-time teaching about the core capacities.

Kayak conversations: “paddling in parallel” to check-in on where we are in the journey.
